Garden as Art

Sometimes I just can't bear to harvest veggies from the garden because, well, they just look so durned cute right where they are! A row of beets has been clamoring in my direction each time I stroll past. The purple cabbages fill their bed like roses in perfect bloom. A row of spring seed-planted onions is long overdue for harvest! This time of year I find myself out in the garden just admiring all its lush beauty.
But, it's the time of year when there's serious work to be done and food to bring in! It's time to harvest potatoes, tomatoes, squash, eggplant, cabbage, carrots, beets, Swiss chard, peppers, herbs, apples, plums, pears, raspberries, corn, beans, cucumbers, melons...this list goes on and on as does gather, wash, chop, freeze, cook, prepare, repeat...the multiple never-ending chores of the late summer farm.
Garden as ART calls to me in those moments when I am tired of Garden as Food!

Lots of this year's bounty is finding its way to the Farm Store...plum jams, plum sauce, applesauce, pepper jams, Cowboy Candy, elderberry tonic and elixir, sun dried tomatoes, Raspberry Plum Slab Pie, French Onion Soup, Italian Summer Veggie Soup and many other farm and garden goodies. I've been putting new products out nearly every day the last couple of weeks...something for everyone!
The farm and garden is a peaceful place to be when the world outside feels so volatile and kinetic. May you find art and beauty in your lives to help keep you grounded in all that is good.
Sending love from the farm,
Sarah
