Too HOT? Get Crafty

Too HOT to play outside...

The weeds are growing so fast I can see them reaching for the skies, but it's either too durned hot or too durned wet to be outside. So, I turn my attention to indoor creative fun. On one hand it miffs me getting stuck inside in the summer but for some reason taking a rest to make crochet baskets with yarn ends has been quite entertaining...dare I say addicting!

A large basket of bits and pieces of yarn in all sorts of colors ended up in one of William's dumpsters (The dumpster business is called One Man's Treasures OMT) and somebody's trash became this woman's treasure! I guess in modern language they call this "Upcycling." I'm recycling the yarn into upcycled usable art baskets. Fulfilling in that feel good sort of way...yeah help the planet...but mostly this crafty little moment is inspiring me because of the color!

If you know my interior design palate then you know I'm stingy with color. Living with too much of it inside my home stresses me out, so I choose mostly neutrals. The only colors I let in are quiet greens and blues and plants for a pop of color and life. But, this crate of colorful yarn offers me a moment to create and play with color that I wouldn't otherwise choose.

FARM STORE

We are ready for summer tourism around here. Lake View Farm is lively with ducks and chickens, tractors are coming and going when it's not raining and there's pastoral beauty everywhere you look. The blueberries next door at Rush River Produce are ready to start picking and all the shops, wineries and Lake Pepin fun are open for your visit. You might want to check out a couple new kids on the block in Maiden Rock. Maiden Rock Merchantile opened last summer and this spring a deli called River Horse Market opened their doors. This is where summer happens, friends!

The farm store is open daily and officially from 8-7, but in practicality it follows the farm schedule of 7:00 to sundown. Stop in any time.

Sending love from the farm,

Sarah
